SUSTAINABILITY
ROCA Industry strives to contribute responsibly to the global community, acknowledging the complexities of these issues while remaining steadfast in our commitment to positive change. We recognize the importance of responsible business practices and sustainability. While we don’t aim to overpromise, we are committed to gradually striving towards a more sustainable future.
We are convinced that our actions matter. ROCA Industry is an international player with its own production, and our decisions can affect environmental, consumer, and labor law aspects. We are also significant purchasers of products, and we can make demands in this area. A large part of our business focuses on streamlining logistics and transport, which in itself has an environmental impact.
The quality of our products is evident in both the materials and the design. They often feature smart solutions that make them safe to use. Through constant development and rigorous testing, we manufacture products that last year after year. We think that is the foundation for sustainability.
In General
ROCA Industry supports UNs Agenda 2030 and The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This means that based on the agenda’s goals, we identify focus areas where we can influence and participate.
Our Standards and Policies
ROCA Industry’s sustainability work influences and is influenced by:
- ROCA Industry’s Quality and Environmental Policy
- ISO 9000
- ISO 14000
- Code of Conduct (internal)
- Code of Conduct (suppliers)
We regularly evaluate our methodology to assess effectiveness and the need to proceed with further activities.
Our Focus Areas
As of now, we have identified four focus areas where we can actively make a difference.
DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH (SDG 8)
This SDG promotes sustained economic growth, higher levels of productivity and technological innovation. Encouraging entrepreneurship and job creation are key to this, as are effective measures to eradicate forced labour, slavery and human trafficking.
How we can influence and participate
To support this SDG, our suppliers must sign ROCA Industry’s Code of Conduct. In addition, each country’s regulations and laws must always be met. This is verified in our supplier evaluations.
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION (SDG 12)
According to this SDG, achieving economic growth and sustainable development requires that we urgently reduce our ecological footprint by changing the way we produce and consume goods and resources. Efficient management of our shared natural resources, and the way we dispose of toxic waste and pollutants, are important targets to achieve this goal.
How we can influence and participate
ROCA Industry’s products must have a long lifecycle. To the greatest extent possible, our products must be manufactured from materials that can be recycled and, where possible, already recycled.
At ROCA’s warehouse, garbage is sorted to allow recycling. Packaging is reused where possible, and we strive to reduce plastics in this area.
CLIMATE ACTION (SDG 13)
This SDG demands strategies within sustainable natural resource management and human security. And to take action to combat climate change and its impact. The goal is to limit the increase in global mean temperature to two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
How we can influence and participate
ROCA Industry measures CO2 emissions generated by incoming transport and strives to reduce these.
We strive to use only fossil-free electricity within our own operations and with our subcontractors.
Above that, the company’s company cars are electric hybrids. We allocate charging poles at our office. In addition, all employees are free to charge their private electric cars and bicycles so that they can make their trips to work by electric vehicle.
PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS (SDG 16)
It’s in the interest of humanity to significantly reduce all forms of violence and to promote the rule of law and human rights. Supporting peace, justice and strong institutions is key to this process.
How we can influence and participate
ROCA Industry and its subcontractors neither buy from nor sell to countries that have started or supported an active conflict in which they currently are involved. Examples to be mentioned here are Russia and Belarus.
